Yolanda lands in Mexico with big musical dreams, unaware of the forces shifting around her.

‘Ma'am... Ma'am!’ the flight attendant murmured, her voice a soft, apologetic whisper interrupting Yolanda's well-deserved nap.‘The plane has already landed. We are in Mexico.’

Yolanda was a wealthy, beautiful Jamaican woman, the daughter of an aristocratic family. Though her family had moved to London—where Yolanda was brought up in a highly luxurious lifestyle—their roots ran deep. She was the youngest of three siblings. Her eldest brother, Winston, was a renowned engineer in London who proudly carried the same name as their father. He was an absolute eye-catcher for any woman lucky enough to be in his presence, and fiercely protective of Yolanda. Her other brother, Edward, was always mocked by the family because of his name.

Their mother, Alexandria, held a profound admiration towards the British Royal Family; she had given in on her first son's name, but the second boy's name was non-negotiable. Naming her youngest Edward was her loving way of expressing her deep respect for the Crown. Edward was a highly successful businessman—poised, mild-mannered, and boasting an enviable education in Finance and Administration. It was expected that he would succeed the family legacy while maintaining their tight-knit ties and negotiations with the Jamaican elites.

Yolanda had no interest in the corporate world. From a young age, she showed an unquestionable talent for the arts. Always writing, singing, dancing, and performing, no one ever doubted that she would one day be an artist. At age eighteen, she was accepted into the prestigious Royal Academy of Music in London. She formally studied Jazz, but her real passion was Reggae. When she sang, her smooth, velvety voice followed her natural 'swag'; the very first chords hypnotised people, making it impossible to look away.

Yolanda possessed a striking, tall build: long legs, honey-coloured skin, beautiful dreadlocks, sweet almond eyes, and a contagious laugh that made her the star of any room. When she walked, she looked like a model floating over the asphalt. She was simply a beautiful woman with both looks and brains. Having graduated with flying colours, the music industry moguls already had their eyes on her, eagerly offering contracts to sign her.

But before diving into the real world and starting her career, she had a dream to fulfil. She had always wanted to visit Mexico, eager to explore its rich sonic landscape and blend those vibrant rhythms with her own Jamaican heritage.

‘Ma’am... Ma’am!’ The flight attendant had to shake her arm softly, and Yolanda finally woke up. She opened her almond eyes and immediately burst into a huge, loud laugh.

‘Sorry, I’m so sorry for falling asleep. I was having a dream I didn’t want to wake up from, I suppose.’

The flight attendant hadn’t expected such a reaction and looked slightly uneasy, which only made Yolanda laugh even more.

With her British accent, she said, ‘Please forgive me, good soul. I must have forgotten my manners. I’ll leave as soon as my brain processes my awakening.’

The attendant simply walked away without saying a word.
