After the talk with his sister, Natalia, Rogério went to bed with a heavy feeling. He couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was; his intuition was screaming at him that maybe twins exist – but it wasn't Magdalene – he knew it deep in his soul. Finally, he fell asleep.

In the morning, they both woke up in a great mood, feeling totally refreshed from the exhaustion that always comes with a long motorcycle trip. It was a beautiful but humid day, and they headed out together to grab some breakfast.

Over coffee and sweet bread (pan dulce), they chatted away. Natalia turned to Rogério and asked very carefully – you know, very casually, like she didn't want to show her curiosity – ‘So, have you made up your mind about our move to California?’

Rogério, in his usual macho style, brushed off the question with just a few words and gave a short reply. ‘We'll talk when we get to our aunt's house. For now, I don't want to talk about it anymore. We need to make this choice calmly and responsibly – after all, it's our whole future on the line.’

Natalia knew she wouldn't worm anything out of him today, so she just let the matter drop right there.

Rogério, on the other hand, knew perfectly well what he had already decided, but he didn't want to rush into things while they were still travelling. He felt a bit uneasy, but everything he was doing – or so he thought – was just to protect the sister he absolutely adored.

Right now, they still had a few hours of riding left before reaching the neighbourhood of Fraccionamiento Virginia in Veracruz. It was a comfortable, safe, and traditional middle-class neighbourhood. The aunt lived in a neat, tree-lined residential area full of local parks and cosy cafes. Her house was modern, with plenty of space all around it. Both of them were really anxious to arrive.

Rogério checked his bike one more time. The fall had left part of the chassis a little dented, but nothing that would stop them from keeping on with their journey. Both were wearing proper biker clothes that served as a layer of protection. In the end, that's what helped absorb the impact of the fall. Aside from a few light bruises, neither had suffered a single scratch. He was super careful, even manic, about those things. Safety always came first, and he never saved money when it came to making sure they were both properly equipped.

Besides, if it weren't for him being a handsome womaniser... lucky was the girl who could lock him down. He was a good man at heart, just cursed with a Casanova streak, and that was exactly why his relationship with Magdalene was so difficult. Even though both shared a hidden obsession with Wiccan dark spirituality, he knew instinctively that to build a life together, that dark side needed to end. It was just too unsettling to pretend to be a normal person when, in their absolute privacy, they both fed something darker, even unhealthy and toxic.

It was only with Magdalene that he turned into something that even he couldn't define – a dark side triggered by a fascination with substances and mystical fantasies that only Magdalene knew and knew how to satisfy. With any other woman, he simply played the charming, flirtatious guy. He would throw his ‘victims’ completely off balance with that trademark Giacomo Casanova smile. Barely had they realised what happened to them, and he was already flying away – like a peacock showing off its feathers to another.

OH! Magdalene suffered – oh, how she suffered! But an astute Wiccan knew that you can't fight against a person's nature. With patience, she hoped that maybe one day he would change. And so, she kept forgiving him and staying, through all their ups and downs. Both of them realised already that their relationship wasn't ordinary, and definitely not healthy.

‘Let’s go, sis, ándale, ándale! Put your helmet on!’🚀

‘¡Ya va! You're always bossing me about, you sound just like Dad!’🧔‍♂️

‘Well, you're behaving like a little girl who still needs her Papacito!’

‘Oh, really? And you still need Mamacita for every little thing!’👵🧹🪣

Both burst out laughing together, hopped on the motorcycle, and started their journey once again, roaring onwards towards Mexico!
